The 'On The Edge' Concert Series is a non-profit community program of Red Deer Lake United Church in southwest Calgary. Our mission is to host quality live musical acts at an affordable price for music lovers in Calgary and the surrounding Foothills communities. We strive to bring to our stage a variety of entertainment and musical genres that will appeal to a diverse audience. We are especially proud to showcase Alberta and Canadian talent, but may at times bring in acts from the USA.
The 'On The Edge' Concert Series uses the church sanctuary, which doubles as our concert hall, with seating for up to 300 people on a first come, first-seated basis. We have an exceptional venue with padded seating, excellent acoustics and a first class sound system. We are wheelchair accessible and a non-smoking environment.
Before our evening concerts, we usually offer a light supper including coffee, tea and pop, plus Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars. These refreshments (excluding the light supper features) are also available at intermission.

Friday, March 10, 2017 at 7:30pm - John Wort Hannam
John Wort Hannam hails from Fort Macleod, AB and with his trio of acoustic roots players he reveals a woven textile of metaphors, phrasing, irony, and rhyme that reads with ease like well written prose. He is proudly Canadian and has released 6 albums and captured a Juno nomination for Best Traditional/Roots album, and a Canadian Folk Music Award for Album of the Year. John has put on concerts throughout Canada and is a superb entertainer on tenor guitar. His 2 multi-talented sidemen on electric fiddle and upright bass, round out the trio.

Friday, May 5, 2017 at 7:30pm - Steve Pineo and the Heebie-Jeebies
Calgary singer/songwriter Steve Pineo is bringing his 5-piece band and the a-capella quartet the Heebie-Jeebies to play and sing the songs and sounds of Elvis Presley. Steve is quick to point out the show is not an act with sequined jumpsuits and wigs, rather a rendition of Elvis' songs from the 1950s through to the 1970s. They really capture the sound with two guitars, bass, drums and piano, and are backed up by the very entertaining and funny Heebie-Jeebies Quartet. Steve is a well-respected artist and has written songs which were recorded by Paul Brandt and Prairie Oyster. Recipient of the 2001 Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Roots Recording, he recently was named Guitarist of the Year by the Calgary Blues Association.
